A Little More Sequins and Shimmer

Simplicity 1805 Misses & Plus Size pullover knit top in two lengths with sleeve variations in sizes XXS to XXL. This is View A without sleeve bands.

 Fabric:
Top - Pink/Mauve/Multi Poly/Lycra Retro Circles Print Corded/Sequined

 Dress - Hot Pink/Golden Yellow/Multi Roses Poly/Lycra Shimmer Lightweight

Adjustments: The top was lengthened for the dress. An additional six-inch border was sewn to the hem folded in half for additional length. It was worn with a black jacket.

*At least an inch or two needs to be removed from the neck band as it is too wide for me.

This is the same top as here.

Sparkles and Ruffles

Pattern: Butterick 5917 Misses' dress with ruffles, semi-fitted, lined bodice and inset, raised waist and back zipper.

 Sizes: 6 - 22Line Art
Fabric: Brown imported sparkle crepe from Trim Fabrics and crème polyester lining
Adjustments: Added 2 inches to raise the front panel, but could use another 3 inches. Five inches was added to the dress length and I increased the size. Long sleeves were added to view A as well as fully lining the outfit due to the fact that the fabric being very lightweight.

Several bloggers made this dress and they were so lovely that I had to purchase the pattern. I'm so glad I did. It's and easy pattern and so lovely to wear.

Pattern: McCall's 3136 purses. This is view E
Fabric: Imported sparkle crepe and polyester lining. Large snaps were used as a fastener and embellished with a flower.

My instructions: 1. Sew lining to fabric, flip the purse inside lining, and place in the purse for fitting. 2. Measure fro placement of snaps. 3. Sew snaps in place. 4. Sew larger lining piece in place. 5. Sew lining corners to front as far as possible. 6. Topstitch whole purse 1/4 inch.

Earrings: I used the plastic lid from Publix's potato salad, sprayed with Elmer's Craft Bond spray adhesive, fabric on both sides, trimmed, hole punched, and finished with jewelry chains and clips.

Bows: Fabric with earring clips attached to the back.

So, it has the perfect pattern and colors

Pattern: Butterick 5982 MISSES'/MISSES' PETITE DRESS AND BELT: Dress has close-fitting, lined bodice, side front seams, pleated and gathered skirt, back zipper, and belt with bow, knot and Velcro® closing. A/B, C D cup sizes.
Okay, this is a shower curtain that includes the bronze that matches my shoes and purse. It's a little hard for me to leave this pattern as it is fitting perfectly into my life right now.

Why am I feeling as if these Spring outfits should have been completed and that I should not be rushing to add to my wardrobe. Yes, I make a lot of church outfits, but I do need some casual outfit to wear on dates with the hubby.

A Burst of Spring!

Butterick 5147 Lifestyle Wardrobe Line Drawing
Yes! Another A-line Butterick 5147 dress with front and back darts and back zipper.
Let me tell you about this fabric; It was purchased as a polyester table cloth on sale for less than $3.
This is thinking outside of the box. It was poly and I love the print so, I went for it. You'll get to see a dress made out of this fabric for my granddaughter. The leopard print dress and the Valentine's dress that I made for my granddaughter were made from yes, tablet cloths. I purchased two of each color so I have enough to make items for myself.
Lining: lime green pongee polyester

Alterations: On the front neckline I had to make a dart-size adjustment to remove the fullness. The sleeve pattern from the jacket was used and adjusted to the shorter length. A 1" sway back adjustment  was needed. Of course, I had to lengthen it because my dresses need to be hemmed at 44" for full coverage.
There is something to be said about this traditional A-line dress. It's been around forever and it never goes out of style. This and the princess style are the basis of most styles be it dresses or jackets. Threads Magazine featured an article "Sew a Sheath Dress" in January 2014 featuring how to create a custom version of both dresses.
Most times I'll make this dress sleeveless if I'm wearing it as a dress/jacket set. Otherwise I kind of keep the arms hidden for church.
