Happy Memorial Day!

I originally had twenty-three Dresden plates to complete three quilts. These are the last two completed for the veterans. Of course, I'm making more of different designs. The first quilt included nine Dresden plates seen here.

Half triangles were used on the left and right side of this quilt.

Dresden Plate Quilt

This one measures 60 X 60 inches. It was fun and something new to me. There is hope for a non-quilter!

The Dresden plates were completed by a mom who passed away and her daughter donated them to the church. Of course, I had to complete the center circles, place them on 14 X 14 inch white squares, and choose matching fabrics. That was a chore since the plate fabrics was at least 1960's or 1970's. Since I found this navy fabric, I went online and ordered what I hope to be more since I still have twelve more plates.Binding is from the quilt backing. I'm thinking of making two quilts/throws with six plates each.

Fun Quilt/Lesson Learned!

This is a new hobby that has been keeping me from a lot of sewing clothing for myself. I'll also share some of the other fun projects that's taking a lot of time.

Front
Back
The fabric came with the front and back of the kittens. I decided to take the back and use it for my squares. I'd never used Heat n Bond before and used the wrong one. I used Ultra when I should have used Lite. Therefore the cats are stiff. I was making this for a baby quilt, but I think it would make a better wall hanging.
