Swirled Jacket

Pattern Description:  McCall's 7109 is an out of print pattern that has a front buttoned princess seamed jacket with long or short sleeves and scalloped detail. There are two 7/8" buttons on each of the sleeves.

Pattern Sizing: 8-24

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? After putting the  instructions down, I couldn't find them until I had finished. It had fallen between the footboard and the hope chest.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It was the jacket that drew me to this pattern. Specifically,  the neckline, buttons on the outer sleeves, and the scallop bottom of the jacket. Years ago, I purchased a cream, textured double knit suit just like it and I'm still wearing it.

Fabric Used: Crème/Black ITY knit from Fabric Mart

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Lined the front and upper back with the same fabric and raised the neckline one inch.

Would you sew it again? Yes Would you recommend it to others? Yes

Conclusion: In my closet is a black princess skirt that is a stand-alone piece that warranted the need to use this fabric as a jacket instead of sewing a dress. It can be worn with my sleeveless black dress or a red dress. The next jacket will lengthened about three inches and the neckline will be raised at least two inches. I can't wait to make the slim skirt suit in a solid fabric.

Traditional Slimming Skirt

McCall's 7109 printed in 1994 is a slim skirt with soft front pleats, back zipper, and a kick pleat. Sizes range from 8-24.
The fabric is a polyester suiting that's a medium weight with a satin side and a matted side. Of course, I ordered it online from Fabric Mart.

Honestly, I do not know if this is what one calls crepe-back satin. If you know, please leave me a message. I used the matted side/not satin side. This is one of my favorite fabrics because it's thick enough that a slip is not needed.

This is the last of the three skirts that were made by this pattern for a family member. It has been completed for over a month.

Slim Skirt

McCall's 7109 printed in 1994 is a slim skirt with soft front pleats, back zipper, and a kick pleat. Due to a mistake that I made while trying to match the print, the kick pleat ended up being a open pleat. Sizes range from sizes 8-24.

Fabric was purchased at JoAnn Fabric on the red tag table. It has a moleskin feel with spandex. Matching the prints was a little challenging, but it turned out very nice.
It was made for a family member and she said, "It is a perfect fit."
