August MAGAM Lavender Suit

Pattern: Simplicity 4014 unlined coat or jacket in two length and lined dress.

 Sizes: 10-28W

It looks like the pattern. I love the length of this jacket and the fit of the dress.

Fabric: Micro faille polyester blend fabric. Notice dimpled on left back skirt. Steam will leave a dent.

Adjustments: Removed 1" from back bodice length/swayback adjustment

Lavender polyester lining for dress makes this a heavy dress.

I also lined the sleeves of the jacket.

Accent: Lace

There are some adjustments that need to be made. Thank goodness for the jacket due to the low cut of the dress. It will have to be adjusted by at least 3" and the sleeves of the dress need to be wide.

Did you know that pastel lavender is also called mauve?

  1. Lavender or mauve - you pick lovely fabrics for a great looking combination.

    1. Thank you! The purchased fabric color is lavender, but I was reading about the color and read that pastel lavender is also called mauve. When I was a teen pastels were popular and you never hear of mauve, but since that time there are so many new companies with new mixtures of colors as well as new names.

  2. You've change your hair :).

The neck is low - it doesn't seem that way in the picture, but then it has also been covered up.

Will you be altering the sleeves - you can cover the neckline with the jacket, but it will be uncomfortable to wear with such tight sleeves.

    1. I'm loving the natural hair which makes it easy to be versatile. If you'll look closely you can see my pink bra on the right side. If I had placed the pattern piece on my dress form I would have known that as I have a line drawn on the fabric. It is a littler lower than I would like, but the width is more of a problem without the jacket. Also, who are taller will have a better view into that area and well as when I'm leaning or sitting down. I just try to keep things in tack.

  3. Dorothy, this outfit is quite lovely. I did not think the neckline was too low, it seemed very fashionable with your "statement necklace." The mauve/lavendar is a great color on you. Happy Stitching, Regina.

    1. Thank you! I didn't take time to match everything as I was using my husband to take these pictures in a hurry so I could post before the month passed.

  5. Once again you have made a lovely outfit, such a pretty colour. I particularly like the dress, feminine and flattering.
