Traditional Slimming Skirt

McCall's 7109 printed in 1994 is a slim skirt with soft front pleats, back zipper, and a kick pleat. Sizes range from 8-24.
The fabric is a polyester suiting that's a medium weight with a satin side and a matted side. Of course, I ordered it online from Fabric Mart.

Honestly, I do not know if this is what one calls crepe-back satin. If you know, please leave me a message. I used the matted side/not satin side. This is one of my favorite fabrics because it's thick enough that a slip is not needed.

This is the last of the three skirts that were made by this pattern for a family member. It has been completed for over a month.

  1. How kind of you to make three skirts for someone else. I do love the fabric but I have no idea what that fabric is called either. I do bring post-its to the fabric store and write the fabric content and amount on the post-it and then pit it to the selvage. It helps me remember later - of course, I have to do it all again after pre-shrinking the fabric.

    1. Thank you! She is, but I'm not sewing daily as before. It's time that I snap out of it!

  3. I think it is a satin backed crepe (or crepe backed satin). It looks like it to me, and your description certainly is right for that fabric. It will look lovely in that skirt.
