Simplicity SewSimple 1961 was made using a micro-pique knit. The pattern comes in sizes XXS-XG and it can be tied in the front. Yes, it's black because it is simply time out (in my area of the country) for a sweater and it can worn with my next maxi dress.
The fabric was a little too thick for the hemming-foot, so I used the open-toe foot. It was an easy job hemming this jacket because the foot keeps the fabric straight and housed between each side of the foot. I really appreciated the nice looking effortless mitered corners.
The length is a litter longer than I wanted, but I like the jacket so I cut two more.
The back length is perfect in that it gives great coverage and it has a straight edge.
Dorothy, I love it.. Just perfect for your maxi dress.. I saw this pattern and thought it was cute.. Happy sewing.
ReplyDeleteThanks,it is an easy pattern.
DeleteGreat job Dorothy! I just picked this pattern up last week. I thought it would make a great year round lightweight pull on for dresses or jeans. Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was looking at it in the short sleeve version.
Deletewow Dot you're buzzing right along over there! love the jacket!can't wait to see the other two!

Helen, it's kind of sad that I have closets filled with clothes. I retired from teaching and have given away some. I'm thinking about refurbishing some of them.
DeleteThis is So Wonderful! How much fabric does it take? I bought a knit last summer for a cardigan but think this would be a lovely option if I have enough.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marjorie. It takes 2 5/8 yds of 60" fabric for the XL which is a 46" bust. Wishing you the best.
