The bodice was created from M6322 without the darts. Black polyester faille from Fabric Mart was used for the bodice and the lining. The fabric gave the dress a nice weight.
I didn't want to use a polyester lining fabric because I thought it might become a little sticky in the heat. I would have liked to use the black lawn fabric, but didn't have enough. A headband was made to match.
The chiffon fabric was measured and sewn up the back. After fitting, I had to go back with 1/4 inch elastic and to make it a little more fitted.
This is the back view. I love the length of this jacket.
This outfit was created to wear on a date with my husband. He liked it and it was such an easy wearing outfit. In my jewerly box I found a bracelet with fuschia, black and cream.I found a fuschia chunky earring and necklace set for the next time.
look at you! that turned out fantastic! it seems everyone's making maxie skirts, I may have to give this a try lol!

Thank you! You should make one and see how much fun it is to wear it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great 'hubby-date-dress!' I much prefer the look of a maxi with a plain fabric on top ... J
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment!
DeleteHi Dorothy - the dress looks fun and simple to make. I'd like one, but not maxi, more midi. I trip over Maxi lengths (too much the tomboy!). It looks gorgeous, and I hope you enjoyed your date night.
ReplyDeleteSarah thanks! It was fun and I really enjoyed wearing it.
DeleteOh your mxi dress looks fantastic, and pairs so well with the new cardigan too. Very chic! And it's terrific that you already had some jewellery to match :)
ReplyDeleteCarolyn thanks!
DeleteYou look beautiful! Your sewing is so amazing. I hope you both had a lovely date! Hugs xxx
DeleteThank you! We had so much fun that we are trying it again. Now, believe this; it's suppose to rain again.
DeleteYou've been sewing up a fashion storm. This is a really nice dress.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so elegant, I love it and the cardigan goes with it beautifully.
