Royal Outfit for the Princess!

A new caftan that I purchased about five years ago was split up the sides and used as fabric.  The neckline was positioned to the front section of the caftan to work for a seven year old. Since the front of the top was cut from the front section, the border had to be removed from the front as the skirt. In order to make a long skirt the back of the caftan was used to make the skirt. Elastic was added to the waist and a split was added to the back. Double fold fabric was used to trim the split. The border made the hem a little heavy due to the embellishment.  It was a perfect fit and when she saw the dress she said, "This is royalty!"
