40th Wedding Anniversary

Today is our official 40th Wedding Anniversary! Friends we celebrated in June on a cruise to Nassau Bahamas and in August to Montego Bay, Jamaica. During our friend's 60th birthday party in Jamaica everyone wore white and I wore Simplicity 2190 view B.

The fabric is knit from Hobby Lobby in which I used it double as an underlining. The sleeve band wasn't used because I asked my husband's advice and that was his request. I like the underlining because I was able to hand hem the sleeves and hemline without any stiches showing. This fabric was perfect for sewing the  neckline, sleeve openings, and topstitching.

Two for One

Simplicity 1280 Tunic Top

This is a fun top to make and very comfortable. I just had to make two and there will probably be different versions in the near future. You know it is when you have so man ideas and so many patterns. You quickly move on to the next in line.

There were no alterations made.  I did add some roses that were purchased from Joann Fabrics. Aqua Blue Stipe Burnout-Look Shirting by Maggy London was purchased from Fabric Mart and the white polyester puff-textured fabric came from a consignment shop.

These are some of the pictures from my trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Jump Right In

McCall's 7135 MISSES'/WOMEN'S SHRUG, DRESS, JUMPSUIT AND BELT: Semi-fitted, unlined shrug has front extending into back collar and shaped hemline, wrong side shows. Pullover dress and pull-on, wide-legged jumpsuit have close-fitting, mock-wrap, blouson bodice, elasticized waist, side pockets and belt. B: Mock-wrap skirt. Designed for two-way lightweight stretch knits.

I really like the blousing in the back. On the pants, I removed two inches. A snap with a covered button was added to the front.

My fabric choice was Ruby Red Swirls Jacquard Double Knit by Maggy London from Fabric Mart. This is a beautiful pattern and I can't wait to make the other items.

Lime Skirt and Sash

Looking through the pattern stash, I settled on this slightly flared, above mid-knee length skirt.
View A looked like the perfect pattern for this on-trend skirt.

She really wanted this color so I used what I had which is a lime scuba knit from Fabric Mart. Being a tall girl, I added 8" to the skirt length and because she wanted a wide band, I added 4" to the band. I like the drape of the skirt in this fabric, but would like to make it in a lightweight broadcloth and a couple inches shorter. That's the way she rocks her skirts!
