I know it is easier to use patterns that have already been altered, but I have so many patterns that I've purchased that I really would like to make. This is one of my recent purchases from a thrift shop. I love the curves in the collar, the v- neck, and the v points at the hem of the jacket.
Alterations: Removed 3" from the sleeve length
Removed 1" from the length to waist
Added 3" to all jacket bodice pieces for length
Removed 2" from neckline to decrease depth of v
Added 5" to skirt length
Omitted elastic in back of skirt
I'm considering remaking this very soon.

Very "pretty in pink"! And those buttons are beautiful too. This is a nice set, the colour is really flattering on you.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad my friend suggested these buttons as they match the necklace set.
ReplyDeleteThis ensemble is very pretty on you! I like all the curves from the princess seams as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Vanessa!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty suit - the collar is so lovely. Princess seams really work for you :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's interesting that you mention the princess seams working on my behalf. Growing up, my mother would always say "Princess styles fit you best." I guess as the body grows nothing changes in that aspect.
DeleteA very nice suit!

Judy thank! I'm trying for better fits. I think I need to pay closer attention to the flare of the skirts or tapering.
